Man Charged With .17 BAC In Pittsburgh DUI Keeps Job With Specialized License

A 39-year-old Pittsburgh man, working as a welder, was facing his first Pittsburgh DUI with a high BAC of .17. With several prior offenses on his background, the man was concerned about the likely penalties of a license suspension and a jail sentence. Attorney Michael Worgul set out to represent him in a way that would help him avoid jail time and minimize the effect of a license suspension.

In a situation like this, ideally attorney Worgul would enroll him into a diversionary program. However, with his past record, our client was not eligible for such a program. With this in mind, Worgul decided to file a motion to get his client a better deal. As a result of filing this motion and negotiating with the district attorney’s office, our client served 60-days in jail and then received a specialized license allowing him to get to and from work. Our client was able to keep his job as a result.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
