Attempted Homicide and Robbery Charge Dismissed For Pittsburgh Man

Our client was charged with attempted homicide and robbery, both felonies of the 1st degree and of the highest criminal rating in the state of Pennsylvania. The 22-year-old restaurant server was accused of breaking into a home, pulling a gun on the residents, and shooting at them. With these two felonies and other serious juvenile charges on his record, he was looking at a sentence anywhere from 20 to 40 years in prison if convicted. The man knew this was a serious charge. This case came with some challenges, but criminal defense attorney Matthew Ness represented the man with a strong defense.

Over the course of a year, we attended about six different court appearances in McKees Court with several conferences and pre-trial motions. The Commonwealth tried to prosecute our client with evidentiary tricks against him. Using our extensive knowledge and experience, we were able to combat these issues. We managed to successfully get the case dismissed for a lack of prosecution. He did not receive any jail time, a huge win for our client.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
