Man Charged with Multiple Felonies Found Not Guilty

We recently helped a client who was charged with the following offenses:

Understandably, our client was concerned about his future and what would happen to him. As a recent graduate of a Pittsburgh-area high school who had never been in trouble before, he wasn’t sure what to do. He hired attorney Samir Sarna to represent him on these charges.

At the time of the offense, a high-profile Pittsburgh photographer had been sitting in his car around 2 a.m. on a Saturday night on the South Side of Pittsburgh. His car was opened by a male person who put a gun to the photographer’s head and pulled him out of the car. The gunman took the car, drove it away, and the photographer called 911. The police saw the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, which resulted in a high-speed chase through the South Side and to McKees Rocks, where the vehicle hit a curb and was flipped upside down. The police and fire department immediately came to the person’s aid, and our client was found attempting to crawl out of the broken back windshield of the vehicle. The photographer was brought to the scene of the accident and identified our client as the gunman.

This case was heard in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, and our criminal lawyers attended three court dates on the client’s behalf. Samir’s defense focused on eye witness credibility issues, discrepancies in police reports, and lack of evidence. After a three-day jury trial, our client was found not guilty on all charges except for fleeing and eluding and the driving-related summary offenses. The photographer was unable to accurately identify our client as the gunman.

Case results depend upon a variety of factors unique to each case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any future case.
