Possession of a Controlled Substance Charge Nets Probation

Our client was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The substance he was charged with possessing was alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug marketed under the brand names Xanax or Niravam. Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance. The possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges both are ungraded misdemeanor offenses.

Our client came to the experienced Pittsburgh defense attorneys at Worgul, Sarna & Ness, Criminal Defense Attorneys, LLC for help with his drug charges. He was a first-time offender with no criminal history, and it was of the utmost importance to him to maintain a clean record.

We negotiated with the District Attorney’s Office and were able to get our client a plea agreement for 6 months of probation without a verdict. Once our client completes the six months of probation, the possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges will be expunged from his record.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
