Aggravated Assault & Simple Assault Charges Withdrawn

A man in his mid-50s was recently charged in Pittsburgh Municipal Court with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony, and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor. As a licensed contractor with a DUI and a few other misdemeanor offenses on his criminal record, he was concerned about gaining a felony conviction on his record and having to serve jail time. Because of this, he sought out Worgul Law Firm, an experienced Pittsburgh criminal defense firm, to handle his case.

The client was charged by the police after they were called to the house by the client’s wife. The couple had had a dispute at home and things had gotten physical. Upon arriving, the police noted the wife had injuries and she was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Our client was arrested on the spot and brought to Allegheny County Jail.

Samir attended three court dates on the client’s behalf. After negotiating with the District Attorney’s Office, he was able to secure a withdrawal of all charges in exchange for the client having no violent contact with his wife for 90 days. This meant no jail time and no felony conviction on the man’s record – an optimal outcome.

Case results depend upon a variety of factors unique to each case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any future case.
