WORGUL, SARNA & NESS, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEYS, LLC ANNOUNCES 2019-2020 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Worgul, Sarna & Ness, Criminal Defense Attorneys, LLC recently completed reviewing applications for our annual scholarship competition. After a remarkable first year, we had another massively successful round of submissions and received applications from some very impressive students all over the country.
With so many outstanding submissions and some truly inspiring essays and letters recommendations, after much deliberation, it is our pleasure to award the 2019-2020 scholarship to William Welch.
William is from Los Angeles, CA and in the fall will be attending UC Los Angeles, studying Mechanical Engineering. With a current internship at the engineering firm, Lockheed Martin, his ultimate career goal is to be on the cutting -edge of advancing sustainable energy technologies to help move humanity towards renewable power sources.
Outside of his interest in the green energy movement, William is very active in his church and volunteers in his community, mostly counseling students and local residents in dealing with traumatic situations. He has also received international recognition for his volunteer recruitment and anti-drug fundraising efforts.
In his essay on how to prevent drunk driving, William spoke about changing the drinking culture that makes the disassociation around the dangers of drunk driving so prevalent. He encouraged intelligent planning by using rideshare apps like Lyft and Uber, but also new initiatives that would delay the issuance of parking tickets in peak hours to reduce apprehension about leaving your car behind and suggested free trolley systems to conveniently transport people in popular areas.
William’s work ethic and passion for making meaningful changes in his community are evident. As a leader with a bright future ahead of him, we at Worgul, Sarna & Ness, Criminal Defense Attorneys, LLC feel he is an ideal recipient for our annual scholarship.
